Overview of Services
Students, community health care professionals, and members of the public are always welcome to visit the Library and use any of our resources on site, including databases and print and electronic journals and books. Library staff can provide assistance with brief reference questions, training on library resources, and help locating information within our own collection and at other institutions.
We are unable to check out books or fill interlibrary loan (ILL) requests for patrons who do not have an Ochsner ID card, but we will be glad to show you how to utilize circulation and ILL services offered by your home library. Unaffiliated health care professionals should contact the Southeast Louisiana Area Health Education Center to request document delivery and literature searches.
To access a book or article that is not owned by Ochsner Medical Library & Archives:
- Check availability through your home institution.
- Some items may be available remotely. See your institution's remote access instructions for details.
- If your institution does not own the item, place an interlibrary loan request with your library.
