Participants will learn advanced PubMed search strategies; gain an understanding of MeSH (Medical Subject Headings); learn how to use My NCBI; and learn how to request articles using PubMed's Loansome Doc service.

Participants will learn more about this online cardiovascular information and educational resource produced by the American College of Cardiology; stay up-to-date with the most relevant research findings and best practices; examine analysis and commentary by experts which help put the findings in perspective for immediate application.

How to Use the Library

 

A librarian will introduce participants to the Library's services and resources, including electronic databases, e-journals, and e-books. Participants will learn how to search the library's online catalog, submit a literature search request to the Library, and request items through interlibrary loan.

Participants will learn how to navigate this powerful resource, including how to conduct a basic MD Consult search; access full-text journal articles; use the electronic book collection; search for patient handouts; and request materials not in the Library’s collection.

Participants will discover the basic features of PubMed and learn how to perform a search in PubMed; how to set limits; how to display results; how to access articles directly through PubMed; and how to request articles that are not available in the Library’s collection.

This class introduces administrators to the Library's services and resources, with an emphasis on health business resources. Participants will learn to use PubMed and Health Business Full-Text Elite to retrieve full-text articles, and how to request items that are not owned by the Library.

Participants will learn how to use UpToDate to answer clinical questions; learn how to use the Lexi-Comp drug interaction program in UpToDate; and learn how to use Cochrane Databases to find systematic reviews and other evidence-based medicine.
