How to do a search and order articles through PubMed/Medline

1. Run your search

• Go to library web page http://www.ochsner.org/medical-library
• Click on “PubMed”
• Enter terms in PubMed search box
• Click “Go”
• Limit your search by clicking on the “Limits” tab and “Go” to run search again
• NOTE: For a more in-depth tutorial, go to

2. Order your articles

• Click the check box to the left of the articles you want to order
• From PubMed select 'Send to Order' from the pull down menu under the Details tab (this ordering feature is called “Loansome Doc”)
• Enter your Email Address and Password if you are already registered. If you have never used Loansome Doc, please see the directions below to register
• Review orders. Deselect the check next to articles you do not wish to order
• Click 'Proceed to Delivery Options' button
• Review Delivery Options and check the Copyright Compliance box
• NOTE: the library absorbs all fees – please leave cost info blank
• Click the 'Continue' button
• Review order, then click "Send Order"

The requests are imported into ILLiad by Library Staff.
You will receive email in 1-2 days when your request is ready for pickup!

3. Retrieve your articles via ILLiad!

Registering for Loansome Doc

• If you are not registered, at the Loansome Doc log on screen, click “Sign Up”
• Click “Get Started”
• Select “United Stated” and “Louisiana” and click “Search for Libraries”
• Scroll down and click “Select” for Ochsner
• Select category and click “Continue”
• Click box to accept policy and click “Accept”
• Fill your info and click “Continue”
• Click “Complete Registration”
