Congratulations to all of you graduating medical students out there. We want you to know that we are alive and well here at Ochsner Clinic Foundation in New Orleans. In fact, we may be one of the best kept secrets around anesthesiology training. We invite you to take a good look at our program. We know how to train residents, weather a hurricane, and have lots of fun doing it. (Many of our trainees later join our staff.)
Program Mission
The Ochsner Anesthesiology Residency Program aims to develop our residents’ cognitive and physical skills requisite for the practice of anesthesiology. We endeavor to expose our residents to the comprehensive body of knowledge required for board certification. Our faculty take pride to promote skills needed to sustain life-long learning, improve patient safety and develop new knowledge; and they. Act as role models for professional conduct within the practice of anesthesiology, specifically, and the practice of medicine in general.
The Ochsner Difference
The Ochsner Anesthesiology Residency Program distinguishes itself from other programs in several ways. Our program is supported within the framework of a comprehensive group practice model. While “University” hospitals and medical schools are often characterized by departmental, administrative, and academic boundaries, the Ochsner Health System is an integrated medical practice where all physicians work collaboratively and synergistically within the same administrative structure. This model permeates our environment and results in what we believe to be an excellent framework for practicing superlative medicine and a rich crucible for learning. . Moreover, our partnership with the internationally renowned University of Queensland, as well as affiliations with local Universities assures a diverse and stimulating environment. In the department of Anesthesiology at Ochsner we look upon our residents as our future colleagues, and are quite particular to nurture an atmosphere of individual attention and family cohesiveness. Ochnser is a place where faculty get to know our residents personally, and take an individual interest in each trainee’s career and professional success.
