Academic Outreach Reaches Far Out – to Ascension Parish!

(November 10, 2010) On Wednesday, November 3, three members of Information Services’ User Experience Team, Mike Price, Kristin de Baroncelli, and Amy Dalton, took an early morning drive to St. Amant High School in Ascension Parish to talk to 65 ninth graders about their careers as technology specialists and advise them on how to pursue a similar career. St. Amant High School’s Journey to Careers and Health Education teacher, Celeste Small, reached out to Ochsner’s Academic Outreach team to coordinate an informational session for her students to learn more about IS. The discussion with the students was video recorded and later shown to an additional 120 students.

According to Celeste Small, “I thought it was exciting that a large corporation such as Ochsner participates in the Biz to School program, by allowing employees to go into the school setting to interact with and bring information to students from a real-world perspective.”

Academic Outreach thanks the Ochsner staff members who facilitated this presentation: Mike Price, Kristin de Baroncelli and Amy Dalton.

Academic Outreach serves the community and maintains Ochsner’s position as a national academic leader by supporting educational development, providing unique academic resources, and connecting students and teachers with innovative academic opportunities.
