Living the Legacy – Happy Birthday Dr. Alton Ochsner

Dr. A Ochsner   (May 4, 2011) Dr. Alton Ochsner was born on May 4, 1896, in Kimball, South Dakota—115 years ago today.

Dr. Ochsner was a remarkable man, and Dr. Hector Ventura’s biography of him that appeared in the January 2002 issue of The Ochsner Journal is filled with anecdotes of our founder’s approach to medicine, to colleagues, and to patients.

More recently, Ochsner’s Living the Legacy initiative pays tribute to Dr. Ochsner’s lifelong anti-smoking crusade.

The anniversary of Dr. Ochsner’s birth is a perfect time to pause and to reflect on how each of us can contribute to Ochsner’s mission to serve, heal, lead, educate, and innovate.
