(June 2, 2011) The 2011 STAR Student Scholars met each other for the first time at an information reception in the Brent House Conference Center on Monday, May 31. Speakers included Janice Piazza, Dr. Jawed Alam, Allison Sharai, and STAR Class of 2010 Alum De’Jana Parker.
The 2011 STAR students listened to the opportunities they will have this summer to experience many facets of healthcare, knowledge that can guide them as they decide if they will pursue a medicine- or science-related major in college. A few of the medical areas the STAR students will gain more knowledge about during the summer are Chemo/Radiation, Labor/Delivery, Respiratory, Flight Care/Emergency, Pathology, and Orthopedics.
