Melisa Enclade Joins Academic Outreach Team

(June 3, 2011) The Academic Division welcomes Melisa Enclade, who became the new Academic Outreach Coordinator in May. Melisa has more than 10 years of teaching experience working with the St. Joan of Arc School in Laplace, Louisiana, and Fort Myers Christian School in Fort Myers, Florida.

Melisa received a bachelor’s degree in English at Warner Southern Christian University. After graduating, Melisa worked at a nonprofit mental health crisis clinic in Florida. She has been a New Orleans resident for almost 3 years and was the eighth grade English and Journalism teacher at St. Joan of Arc School for 2 years. Her experience in teaching journalism is bound to help the upcoming STAR Students with their weekly informative newsletter.

Melisa is very excited about the STAR program, which begins on June 20, 2011. The students have a wide variety of projects that Melisa will facilitate. She will also teach the students the skills of resume writing and poster creation.

Once the STAR program ends in July, Melisa will still have a full schedule with iLab visits, job shadow requests, and science discovery days right around the corner. If you see her around campus, please take the time to congratulate and introduce yourself to Melisa.
