(June 8, 2012) The Ochsner School of Radiologic Technology Class of 2012 graduation ceremony was held on May 18, 2012. Eleven Our Lady of Holy Cross College/Ochsner School of Allied Health Science graduates were awarded certificates acknowledging the successful completion of their professional clinical training as radiologic technologists.
The ceremony was held in the Brent House Conference Center. Chimene Pitre, program director of the Radiologic Technology Program, delivered the welcome address, and Steve Morgan, coordinator of alumni and community relations for Our Lady of Holy Cross College, gave the commencement address that focused on the impact healthcare providers have on the life of each patient they encounter.
Following the commencement address, Ochsner diplomas and School of Allied Health Sciences pins were awarded to Darcie Bodden, Christine Bodenheimer, Kimberly Borders, Brandy Charleville, Matthew Hennessey, Hannah Nguyen, Jana Parker, Jamie Percle, Brandy Robin, Kimberly Russell, and Michael Songy II.
Kimberly Borders received the Outstanding Radiologic Technology Academic Excellence Award, given to the student with the top grade average. She completed the Radiologic Technology Program with an overall course average of 97 and earned the top score in 15 of the 23 courses. Kimberly has accepted a full-time position as a magnetic resonance imaging technologist at Ochsner Medical Center New Orleans.
Christine Bodenheimer received the Outstanding Student Technologist Award in recognition of her outstanding performance and professionalism in the clinical setting. She was selected by the staff radiologic technologists, radiologists, and radiology residents. Christine has accepted a full-time position as a diagnostic radiographer in the hospital radiology department at Ochsner Medical Center New Orleans.
The graduates recognized two radiographers for their outstanding contributions to their clinical experience and training. The recipients were Marlys Sierra, clinic radiology, and John Lewis, hospital radiology. The graduates also presented a slide show that captured significant moments in their clinical training.
The ceremony closed with remarks from Carl J. Tholen, director of Undergraduate Medical Education.
A reception followed the ceremony.
On May 20, 2012, six of the graduates received a bachelor of science degree and five of the graduates received an associate of science degree during the graduation ceremony held at Our Lady of Holy Cross College.
