Visiting UQ Professor Lecture June 20

David McIntyre   (June 14, 2012) Professor David McIntyre will present Grand Rounds on Wednesday, June 20, at 7:00 am in Monroe Hall. All staff, house staff, residents, and medical students are invited to attend his talk, “Gestational Diabetes: Is It Over-Diagnosed and Over-Treated?”

Professor McIntyre’s lecture will be videoconferenced to OMC Baton Rouge, OMC Kenner, OMC West Bank, OMC North Shore, and Chabert Medical center.

Professor McIntyre trained in endocrinology in Brisbane and in Liege, Belgium. He is currently Director of Obstetric Medicine at Mater Health Services in South Brisbane, Head of the Mothers and Babies Research Theme at MMRI, and Head of the Mater Clinical School of The University of Queensland. 

Professor McIntyre’s research and clinical interests cover medical complications of pregnancy, regulation of fetal growth, and intensive treatment of Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes. He has more than 90 scientific publications and has attracted more than $8M in research funding.

He is currently Chair of the Diabetes in Pregnancy Workgroup of the Queensland Statewide Diabetes Clinical Network, Chair of the International Association of Diabetes in Pregnancy Study Groups, and a member of ADIPS council.
