(June 22, 2012) The summer issue of The Ochsner Journal has been posted at the website. Mailing of print issues began on June 15.
In this issue’s quarterly bioethics feature, Dr. Christopher Blais discusses how a clinician assesses a patient's capacity to make medical decisions.
Anesthesiologists from Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Harvard Medical School contributed an original research article that presents data on how specialized ambulatory anesthesia teams contribute to reduced recovery room stays.
The summer issue includes three reviews with the following focuses: the medical management of acute hip fractures, the perioperative management of neurofibromatosis, and sleep physiology and abnormal sleep states with therapeutic interventions.
A number of interesting case reports that discuss challenging conditions, including bilateral gluteal compartment syndrome following knee surgery and a bowel obstruction in a pregnant J-pouch patient, also appear in the summer issue. |
The Ochsner Journal is a quarterly publication designed to support Ochsner Clinic Foundation's mission to serve, heal, lead, educate, and innovate.
Developed in 1999, the Journal provides a wide range of peer-reviewed, timely, and practical information for practicing physicians, healthcare professionals, and physicians in training. The editorial mix includes original research, case reports, literature reviews, editorials, and other articles that span the spectrum of medical practice and scientific research.
