The Department of Clinical Research Support conducts clinical trials, or research studies, which give doctors and scientists a chance to learn something new about treating patients.
Each trial is designed to answer a specific health question. Most trials test new drugs or devices to see if they are better than the current ones. Clinical trials try to determine if the new product helps to prevent, diagnose, or treat a disease or illness. The trial also looks to see how the new treatment affects the patients. The purpose of a clinical trial is to decide if a new product is safe and effective in treating a specific illness or condition and perhaps may benefit millions of people with the information gained from the trial.
