Overview

The overall mission of this conference is to provide clinicians updates on the latest practices in subspecialty areas, including cardiac, regional, obstetrics, and pediatric anesthesia. The regional workshop will provide the novice with a better understanding of ultrasound-guided techniques, while allowing the more advanced regional anesthesiologist to broaden his or her scope of practice.

Educational Objectives

4th Annual Ultrasound-Guided Regional Anesthesia Workshop:

  1. Ultrasound-guided upper and lower extremity anatomy
  2. Pediatric regional anesthesia techniques
  3. Local anesthetic dosing and toxicity/treatment
  4. Ultrasound-guided regional anesthesia billing and coding
  5. Ultrasound-guided vascular access

Gulf Coast Anesthesia Symposium:

  1. Apply best practices when facing common challenges in pediatric ambulatory anesthesia
  2. Predict common complications in the anesthetic management of the pregnant woman having surgery
  3. Quantify risk in patients undergoing anesthesiology for major spine surgery
  4. Identify three common challenges faced by the occasional neuroanesthesiologist when providing neuroanesthesia  
  5. Develop a best process to provide lung isolation techniques and one-lung ventilation on a patient-specific basis
  6. Recommend three strategies for anesthetic management during obstetrics in anesthesia
  7. Apply updated guidelines when facing a patient that presents with MH
  8. Predict and manage cardiac issues likely to affect the non-cardiac anesthesiologist
