Dr. William Pinsky is the Chief Academic Officer of Ochsner Health System and he is also a race car driver who will compete among the likes of Kyle Petty and Al Unser, Jr. in the Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach Pro/Celebrity Race on April 12. Though he may sound a bit like Jekyll and Hyde, Pinsky is equally at home on the race track or in the C-suite.

TrialNet: Natural History Study of the Development of Type 1 Diabetes

(March 27, 2014) Ochsner pediatric endocrinologist Cielo Alleyn, MD, is now associated with TrialNet, an international network of researchers exploring ways to prevent, delay, and reverse the progression of type 1 diabetes. Through TrialNet, those with a genetic predisposition to type 1 diabetes can receive free screening to identify their risk of developing the disease.

January 16-18, 2014 - Edgar Burns and Gilbert Tomskey Visiting Professorship of Urology
New Orleans, LA

The 3-day lectureship was designed to complement emerging areas of urology within the LSU/Ochsner residency program. The visiting professorship will focus on the management of renal calculi and urinary incontinence/neurogenic bladder. UPJ obstruction, upper tract urothelial cancer, pelvic pain, and testosterone replacement therapy will also be discussed.

This conference will provide updates on diseases of the colon, rectum, and anus, including recent advances in the treatment of diseases. April 4-6, 2014 - Ochsner Cancer Institute Springtime in New Orleans Update: Current Perspectives in Lung and Head and Neck Cancer
New Orleans, LA

Diagnostic and therapeutic techniques in lung cancer, one of the most common malignancies, continue to evolve at a rapid pace. Similarly, the emergence of human papillomavirus–related oropharyngeal cancer over the past decade has driven a paradigm shift in the comprehensive management of head and neck cancer patients. Because of this rapidly changing landscape, leaders from the Ochsner Cancer Institute seek to update our colleagues on the latest advances in diagnosis, treatment, surveillance, reconstruction, and rehabilitation for both lung and head/neck cancer. We have assembled a cadre of internationally-recognized leaders in their respective fields to deliver a thorough update on thoracic and head and neck malignancy.
