Online Training Module Assignment

Assignments for online training modules are now assigned. Successful completion of the required modules is mandatory prior to your start date. Training systems are web based and can be accessed from any computer. Your personalized log-in information is included in the information sent via snail mail.  ALL MODULES MUST SUCCESSFULLY BE COMPLETED PRIOR TO ORIENTATION.

Required modules include:

  • High Risk Procedure Modules (8-procedures)
  • Ochsner Foundation - HIPAA Privacy & Security Training
  • Ochsner Foundation - Resident Nursing Orientation
  • Rapid Regulatory Compliance: Clinical (Part I & Part II)
  • HIM - Physician Documentation Module
  • Quality Improvement Module
  • Moderate/Deep Sedation Training (Sedation & Analgesia)  (Sedation Difficult Airway)

Information & Forms

A packet of new hire information has been mailed to all newly matched/appointed house staff. This packet contains all pertinent pre-employment information needed to process your file prior to your training start date of July 1, 2009. All documents must be completed in full and returned in the supplied postage-paid envelope no later than May 15, 2009. Electronic copies of all universal documents requiring completion are listed here for your convenience.

Required Documents

All postgraduate level 2 or higher house staff entering training at Ochsner Clinic Foundation must present the following documents as applicable, verifying your completion of prior medical training to the Graduate Medical Education Office prior to your arrival.

  • Internship/Residency Certificate (copy)
  • Letter of successful completion of an accredited residency training program by the Program Director (Fellowships: original needed)
  • Summative evaluation from current program
  • Letter of Board Eligibility from the certifying board

Orientation Activities

In order to begin your training with Ochsner Clinic Foundation, you must be processed through the Graduate Medical Education Office. Attending Orientation is MANDATORY for all new house staff. Stipends or benefits will not begin until you have been formally processed with the GME Department and completed all conditions of employment and requirements.

Orientation dates for anyone appointed to begin training July 1, 2009 (August 1, 2009, for Sports Medicine) are as follows:

  • Thursday, June 25: Scheduled computer training, administrative details, formal photos, and drug screenings (Groups A & B)
  • Friday, June 26: Schedueld computer training, administrative details, formal photos, and drug screenings (Groups C & D)
  • Monday, June 29: Scheduled computer training, administrative details, formal photos, and drug screenings (Groups E & F)
  • Tuesday, June 30: Scheduled lectures
  • Tuesday, June 30: Welcome Reception—a great opportunity to mingle and get to know your fellow house staff.
    • What: Welcome Reception for all new house staff and guests
    • When: Tuesday, June 30, 2009
    • Where: Brent House Hotel Atrium
    • Time: 5:00 - 7:00 p.m.

Orientation Letter

A personalized, detailed letter is included in the Orientation information packet. This letter contains information on when and where you are scheduled to report for the completion of Orientation activities.

Orientation Parking

Parking in the Hospital Garage is permitted during Orientation only. Detailed parking instructions will be given during Orientation lectures.

 

House staff appointed to begin on any date other than July 1, 2009, must call the Graduate Medical Education Office at 1-800-752-6768 or 504-842-3260 to schedule an appointment.
