Ochsner has a staff-faculty of some 350 physicians representing all specialties and disciplines in medicine. Ochsner sponsors approximately 250 residents and fellows in training in 18 different medical specialties. Leonard J. Chabert Medical Center

LJCMC is one of nine hospitals in the Louisiana Charity Hospital System. Its patient base is comprised of a large number of indigent and working-poor individuals. While under direct attending staff supervision,, residents enjoy considerably more autonomy than they do at the Ochsner Clinic and Hospital. This helps them refine their medical decision making skills.

Chabert Medical Center is 50 miles from New Orleans which makes commuting easy for both residents and faculty. Ochsner Clinic Foundation also utilizes Chabert Medical Center for graduate medical education in Internal Medicine, Obstetrics & Gynecology, General Surgery, Orthopedic Surgery, Ophthalmology, and Urology.
