Looking for something to read while you’re here at Ochsner? The Ochsner Medical Library and Archives offers paperback novels for our patients and families during their stay with us. This collection is made possible by generous donations by our staff, patients, and community and offers a variety of subjects for all ages.
Patient Libraries can be found at our Jefferson Highway, Baptist, and St. Anne locations. There is no formal lending process involved - simply come by and pick out a book! Books may be returned to the Medical Library or the respective Patient Reading Libraries when you’re done. If you happen to forget, you can either bring it back during your next visit or mail it to our address below:

Do you have some books you’d like to donate to the Patient Reading Library? If so, you can feel free to drop them off at the Medical Library on Ochsner’s Jefferson Highway campus and we would be happy to add them to our collection. Please note that these books may be either fiction or non-fiction and must be in fairly good condition. If you’re here after library hours, please feel free to place the donated books in the library book drop box located outside of our front door. Due to the nature of this program, all donations are accepted with the understanding that the books will circulate without being checked out and may not be returned. The Medical Library staff also reserves the right to not accept donations based on content and/or condition.
